According to the hugely exciting contemporary figurative artist herself, her pictorial ideas and illustrative inspirations come from a seemingly bottomless well of visions, and she concedes that she can either take a little or a lot from anything she deems influential in her work. The rightly celebrated fine artist in question is none other than Keighley-born and bred Shazia, who also makes a habit of drafting inspiration from any number of sources and experiences she’s privy too; not least her travels, the spoken word, the art of contemplation itself and one of her favourite extra-curricular occupations, people watching. In Shazia’s own words; “I have always had that ability to remember and ‘mentally’ jot down anything that interests me. Though I do carry a journal bursting at the seams with magazine and newspaper cut outs.” Bringing compositional things right smack, bang up to date for Autumn 2016, contemporary figurative art exponent, Shazia has just released her very latest giclee on canvas limited edition study, entitled ‘Elisabeth and Alice’; which once again reacquaints us with her habitually pleasing (if not strangely-placed) feature-light characters, set amid an ornate, decidedly floral visual backdrop here and now.
