Fusing printed elements with original artwork, the phrase ‘unique edition’ has been coined to describe a specific type of overall visual effect created by one of the UK’s best-loved contemporary fine art exponents. The critically acclaimed Kerry Darlington has been crafting these stunning 3D accoutrements to existing pieces (all individually hand-worked before being adhered to the limited edition print, we hasten toad) for a number of years now, whilst the compositional background also benefits from hand-embellishment prior to being subjected to a final, resin-based coat to seal all additional effect into the pictorial. With regards her brand new Autumn 2016 hand-embellished, glossed and signed piece – entitled ‘The Call of the Trees’ – it manifests itself as classic Darlington; in as much there’s a gregariously illustrated tree which is found at the heart of both the physical and emotional being of the 35” squared iteration. Moreover, there’s an array of woodland creatures present which also lend a further sense of purpose to the work; a work which is now available to order either online, by phone or by popping into the gallery itself.
