For some, it’s pigs, while for others, it’s horses. And there are those who favour sheep of course, however for Jennifer Hogwood it’s always been cows. Not just the first bovine that crosses her path, mind, as she was inspired by/fell in love with a special breed of bovine native to Scotland; highland cattle. The difference is this animal fan doesn’t harbour a collection of cow cuddlies and soft toys (although she actually might for all we know), and instead has channelled that passion for cuter-than-cute animals into her unsurpassed contemporary animal humourist art. Which has expanded into sculptor of very late (more of which elsewhere hereabouts).

Hogwood’s brand new Winter 2014 reveal is entitled, ‘The McDaisies’ and pictorially concentrates on the graphic impact of four McMoos (as she’s affectionately dubbed them) as they stare impassively toward the viewer. Their eyes, we doubt, ever leaving us as we move around the room, all the time hypnotising us with their presence and charm. Perhaps subconsciously making us reach for our wallets and purses, who knows.
