SANCTIFIED

These two pieces represent reflective moments in time, which to the onlooker would seem still and calming, yet internally there was a chaos of emotion and feeling.

The references I used for the pieces are from a darker time in my life; however, I created these when I was on a new and special journey of hope and discovery. They are an honest and draw expression of my feelings, which I hope the viewer can connect to.

I worked on them both at the same time almost as if they were a mirror image. The faces look peaceful, yet the abstract forms that surround them express a chaotic mindset, which I wanted to express physically.

I like to think of these painting as a snapshot of my soul from a moment of truth, whilst being lost in a world of imagination.

The pieces were produced on paper and I used watercolours and inks to build up the facial features and surrounding areas. This delicate technique is then obstructed by thick energetic markings which are created quickly in moments where I’m completely lost in my own head.
