Off to the left in front of the sand dunes and grassy fields sit a row of four brilliantly
coloured pastel wooden beach huts. People stroll in front of them on the sandy
beach, walking their dogs and dipping their toes in the deep blue waters of the bay.
On the right a row of muted pastel coloured fishermen’s cottages march along the
stone jetty, tilting towards the sea. People range up and down the harbour wall and
the beach below it. Out in the bay the fishing fleet zig zags to and fro making their
way out into the sea in the distance. Surveying the entire scene are a collection of
sea gulls, avocets and oystercatchers sitting on a rocky outcrop in the foreground of
the painting.
