Michael Jackson was born in the North West of England in 1961 and educated at Preston High School. He has always been a keen ornithologist and had a bird sanctuary in his younger years from which taught him about conservation and environmental awareness. As a young child he was interested in drawing and devoted to wildlife. Michael Jackson's devotion to wildlife and passion for nature led him to Blackpool College to study Natural History Illustration.
He was awarded 'Student of the Year' by the rotary club for his exceptionally detailed and high quality work. He graduated college achieving a distinction then went into painting on a full time basis. Michael Jackson travels far and wide in search of his subjects and inspiration, Virunga Mountains in Rwanda, Africa, Asia, the Jungles of Borneo and Central America. He brings to life his pictures in his studio after taking photographic references, field studies and notes. Michael Jackson believes that the key to a great painting is, colour balance, composition and most importantly light.
