View All Art Works By John Horsewell
Influenced from a young age by his parents and grandfather who were all professional artists, John Horsewell has always had a great love and affinity for art. At school, he experimented with all forms of media, soon realising that oils were most suited to his style of working, best allowing him to convey the light and shadow he desired.
After leaving school, Horsewell entered the world of interior design, but continuing to paint in his spare time. With extensive exhibitions, first locally and then- as his reputation gained weight- across Manchester, Birmingham and London. In 1978 he decided to pursue painting as a full time profession, and has experienced tremendous success in doing so.
Most frequently, he chooses to depict his most loved landscapes, from the vistas of Southern Europe to the tranquil shores of Florida, where he spends much of his time. He executes his paintings using a combination of both brushes and palette knives, to give their distinctive texture. The flair with which he paints communicates the pleasure of the location he has revelled in, inviting the viewer to share in the experience with him.
Working today from his studio on the Essex/ Suffolk border, Horsewell continues to express his affection for the natural world around him, his technique ever evolving.
